The Short Fringe Every night see a new bill of four or five plays no longer than 25 minutes each. Count on anything from works in progress by daring new playwrights to comedy improv to cabaret singers to avant-garde dance pieces. Every Saturday night is a juried "Best of the Week" performance, and the last week, February 12-16, is the juried "Best of the Fest"--with a few wild cards thrown in. Click any date on our calendar to see what's playing for the Short Fringe that night. Tickets are $10 for any weekday show and $12 for all Best of the Week and Best of the Fest shows. Passes for a five-day week of Short Fringe theatre (available through the first week only) are $45. Beginning January 7, you can make reservations by calling 479-PLAY (479-7529). The Hyde Park Theatre is located at 511 West 43rd Street--that's just off Guadalupe in the Hyde Park neighborhood north of the University of Texas campus.
The Long Fringe Twelve longer productions (90 minutes or less): this year you can see new works by established and emerging playwrights as well as new directorial takes on classics by Yeats and Mamet. The very groovy Blue Theatre, 916 Springdale Road, is easy to find and just minutes from downtown! Head east on 7th Street past I-35. Once you've crossed Pleasant Valley, the next light is Springdale. Take a left onto Springdale and look to your left for the Goodwil sign. As soon as you cross over the railroad tracks, take a left into the complex of Goodwill warehouses and head toward the THEATRE sign at the back. Or check out this map.
