FronteraFest 2005

FronteraFest 2005 was a great time, but now it's over. But you can get applications and information for the 2006 festival right now!.

Theatre from the Edge

"The fringe theater event of the Southwest!"
-Austin American Statesman

Cue "Sunrise, Sunset" and "The Circle Game" as FronteraFest enters its twelfth year of mayhem at the Hyde Park Theatre. Aw. Remember that freaky little bundle of theatrical joy that first saw stage light in 1993? Well it's going strong and ready to heat up your January nights. The Short Fringe, the Long Fringe, BYOV, or Mi Casa--as always, FronteraFest is five weeks of alternative, offbeat, new, and just plain off-the-wall fringe theatre. Expect the unexpected!

FronteraFest is produced in collaboration with Austin Script Works, a group dedicated to supporting emerging playwrights and developing new dramatic works.

The Short Fringe
January 11 - February 12 at Hyde Park Theatre

Every night we present a new bill of four or five plays no longer than 25 minutes each. Brilliant monologues? Plays in progress? Comedy improv? Cabaret singers? Avant-garde dance? Multimedia? We've seen it all. Every Saturday night is a juried "Best of the Week" performance, and the last week, February 8-12, is the juried "Best of the Fest"--with a few wild cards thrown in.

Get your full schedule right here -- it will be updated regularly as the festival proceeds.

The Long Fringe
January 18 - 30 at the Blue Theater

Ten longer productions (90 minutes or less) at the Blue Theater: everything from new works by emerging playwrights to cutting edge choreography. Check out the complete Long Fringe schedule.
